This post is about how to choose the right at home workout so that you can begin your journey in getting a better body. No this isn't the Nicki Minaj workout but rather a post to show you how to choose a workout.


Choosing the Best Home Workout for You

All someone has to do is turn on the television or visit a local video store or Wal-Mart and they will find literally hundreds of fitness programs for sale. Choosing the best home workout program can be a daunting task. Asking a few simple questions can help anyone find the program that's perfect for them.


One of the most important things for anyone to know is that pretty much any home workout program will work. The trick is that you actually have to do it on a regular basis. But even though any program will work, not every program is right for every person, that's why there are so many of them to choose from.


Decide On Goals


Knowing your goals is the first step in choosing the best home workout program for you. For example, if you're trying to lose weight, a program with plenty of cardio is going to be a great choice. On the other hand, it toning is what you're after, resistance training may be a better option. However, it's always a good idea to choose a fitness program that offers a variety of training types because both cardiovascular exercises and resistance training are necessary for the best results.


Consider What Types of Exercises Are Enjoyable


Knowing what you enjoy doing is going to help you choose the best home workout program for you. If your Friday nights are typically spent out dancing, then a fitness program that combines dance moves with the workout is probably a great fit. On the other hand, if coordination isn't your strong suit, something with simple resistance moves and not a lot of heavy aerobic activity is probably going to be a better fit.


Working out shouldn't be a drag and it can actually be a lot of fun if you take the time to choose a program that interests and excites you.


Do a Little Research


Before investing in a home workout program investigate to see what others thought of it. Read reviews online, check to see if you can find clips from the workouts on YouTube or a company website, and ask friends who have tried the workout. Find out what's on each of the DVDs before you buy them and make sure the type of music used is something that appeals to you and the moves being used are ones you can reasonably do or become fit enough to do.


Think About Time


Decide how much time you have each day and how many days each week that you can commit to getting into better shape. If you've only got 15 minutes each day to set aside for fitness, try to choose a workout program with shorter sessions. However, if you find a program you love with hour-long workouts and you only have 30 minutes a day to devote to fitness, it is possible to break each DVD into two days worth of workouts.


The bottom line is that the best home workout program really depends on the person doing it. If it's a program that gets you moving and you enjoy it enough to stick with it every day, then it's very likely the perfect program for you. One last thing to remember is that no one can do the same thing over and over without getting bored at some point. When you start to get bored, it's probably time to select something new. You can always rotate back to your old favorite. That's the beauty of getting fit at home - you're in charge!

Lunges Work the Front of Your Thighs

Lunges are an exercise that work the front part of the thigh and can be done with or without weights. Simply start in a standing position and with your feet almost shoulder with apart. Take a barbell in each hand and hold them by your sides. Make sure you keep your back straight and slowly step forward with one leg as you inhale. Take a long stride, and lower you body slowly down until your knees almost touch the floor. As you exhale and shift your weight backwards on your heels return to the starting position.

Running Stairs for Lean Firm Thighs

Though some women want to slim their thighs there are those that want to add a little muscle while toning. Running stairs will not only work your thighs but also your butt and calves as well. Start with one to two flights of stairs. Run up the stairs as fast as you can while making sure to skip every other step and once to the top walk back down.

Squats For Gaining Some Mass and Toning

I'm not big on squats for my client since most the women I work with are looking to lose both fat and muscle in their thigh area. For women looking to gain a little size to their thighs this is a great exercise and you don't have to worry about become too bulky because women just don't produce the testosterone that men do. I recommend that if you are going to do squats lift heavier weights and lower repetitions.

Seated Butterfly Stretches

Seated butterflies are one of the inner thigh exercises that more so work and stretch the inner thighs. You first start by sitting straight up on an exercise mat. Take your feet and bring them towards each other so that the soles of your feet touch. Pull them as close to your body as possible and rest your hands on your feet so that you can apply slight pressure to your inner thighs and hold this position for 30-45 seconds.

Romanian Deadlifts to Work the Back of Your Legs

This exercise is a must in order to work your hamstrings. Your hamstrings are your muscles on the back of your leg that run from the back of your knee all the way up to your butt and Romanian Deadlifts will work that entire area. Grab barbells keeping them shoulder width and stand with your feet at shoulder width. Lower the weights to the top of your feet by bending at the hips. Bend your knees as you lower but keep your waist straight and back parallel to the floor. When lifting the barbells off the floor extend at your hips and knees until you are in the starting position.

Eating cake, enjoying pasta and other foods are not a problem when it comes to losing belly fat. The problem is, not to over indulge in the amounts that are consumed and staying under "YOUR" needed daily calorie intake. Not your friend's, mother's, or co-workers calorie intake but your own.

Okay, it's not a secret that you can lose belly fat and still eat the foods that you like. No, I'm not playing with your emotions or giving you a bunch of B.S! The fact is that losing belly fat requires you to just reduce your calorie intake. In other words as long as you eat less than the calories you burn you can pretty much eat what you want.

What Is He Talking About?

Well let's just say for arguments sake your body burns 2,000 calories per day. You normally eat 3 to 4 meals per day including a one or two snacks. As long as your total calorie intake is less than the 2,000 calories your body needs then it really doesn't matter what you eat, you will lose weight because you are below what your body burns for fuel.

How is this possible?

Your body uses calories for fuel on a day to day basis; however, if you don't provide your body with enough calories it will simply burn its own fuel reserve. Do you know what that fuel reserve is? FAT! That's right if you don't provide your body with enough calories it will simply just use your body fat for fuel.

It's really just that simple

So, you can eat what you like but just make sure that you are not going over what your body requires for calories per day or per week (this is what I use). Simply just watching the amount of calories you eat and staying below what your body requires will not only allow you to burn fat and lose weight but also enjoy foods and life.

NOTE: Don't make things harder than that have to be. Just stay under that amount of calories that your body burns daily and you will lose weight. The problem is most women have no idea how many calories they burn daily. We'll talk about that in another post!
